Living Smart Homes

Using technology to help people remain independent in their own homes

This Essex County Council Covid Recovery (COMF) funded project through the West Essex Health Inequalities Group, is a project to help vulnerable adults living with Heath Inequalities to maintain their independence and remain in their own homes by equipping their homes with a range of digital technology.

As part of this project, we have home-owner’s permission to invite people to their homes for an opportunity to experience and see digital technology being used in real life situations. In addition, we will invite people to our digital showcase centres to experience this digital technology and learn more about its potential, impact and how simple it is to deploy and use. The types of technology will vary depending on the users’ needs but could include:

  • Smart speakers, plugs and bulbs
  • Video doorbells
  • Hydration device
  • Memory tile devices
  • Cupboard & freezer sensors
  • Security sensors
  • Heating/lighting/room temperature sensors
  • Wearable devices
