WECAN’s ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life for the people of West Essex by bringing together the wide diversity and expertise of the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector
To achieve this, collaboration and partnering have been at the heart of our mission and purpose, whether that is working with statutory commissioners to respond to the challenges of public sector reform, or creating a way for voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations (VCSEs) to deliver imaginative and effective services across West Essex.
Each of the individual organisations have a strong track record of collaborative working – with each other, as in the West Essex Community Sheds initiative, and with others such as Rainbow’s work with Harlow Chamber of Commerce on the Business Engagement project.
These collaborations bring together skills and perspectives that are complemented by more efficient use of use resources.
As a collective of infrastructure organisations, WECAN is ideally placed to understand and respond to local challenges that are not being addressed by others.
Mission
WECAN exists to build stronger links and opportunities between the VCS, Commissioners, statutory partners and business for the benefit of the community in West Essex, and to facilitate and coordinate bids which add capacity and value to local service delivery.
