West Essex United In Kind Coaches, Sarah, Ayesha, Jake and Nick recently ran an online training webinar on ‘better understanding loneliness and social isolation’

The 90-minute training and local community discussion forum, looked at how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting on loneliness and social isolation, and how both individual and local community responses can safeguard and remedy against both risks and realities caused by loneliness.
The webinar was attended by 22 people, living across the Harlow, Uttlesford and Epping Forest districts; most of whom have been working or volunteering directly on local community services and projects supporting those most affected by covid. One attendee, Daniel, a United In Kind project volunteer from Waltham Abbey, who is currently on furlough from work, said:
“The session was excellent and really interesting. I will try and arrange for a group of my work colleagues to participate in it. It really got everyone thinking about how the pandemic is affecting the lives of different groups of people at the moment, and the different ways we can all support each other”.
Anyone wishing to participate in a future United In Kind coach-led webinar on understanding loneliness and social isolation – either as an individual, or as an arranged session for their own community group, or work colleagues can contact coach Sarah by email – sarah.ayling@westessexcan.org
