Become a TEC Mate

We are looking for volunteers that can help to inspire people who may not currently know how digital technologies could benefit them and to encourage them to give it a try. TEC Mate learners may simply want to know how to get started, or may need guidance to do a specific task digitally.

The aim of TEC Mates is to help bridge the gap between getting started and becoming a confident, independent
user of digital applications and devices. TEC Mates Volunteers would work with people on a one-to-one or small
group basis in libraries and digital hubs for example. As a TEC Mates volunteer, you would not need to be an
expert in all things digital, but if you have a good all-round knowledge and enjoy helping others then it could be
the right volunteering role for you.

As a TEC Mate volunteer, we would support you in developing your own skills so that you can also learn and help
others at the same time. We hope the role would give you a great deal of satisfaction and it may also help you to
make use of existing and new skills learnt through volunteering in other ways e.g., Future employment.

Laptops/Smart Speakers, Bulbs and Plugs, and the enthusiasm to help others gain the skills they need. Ideally, we
