Gifted books distributed to Dunmow Dementia Cafe

Since becoming the Utttlesford United in Kind Coach in September 2019, Kim, has been supporting the Dunmow Dementia Cafe.  This group has been up and running from June 2019 and has 30+ members.  The club offers tea, chat, friendship and support  which is the agenda driven by it’s members.  Lots of positive relationships have been formed during this time as well as a delicious Christmas lunch organised by the volunteers in December 2019.

Lockdown has been a particularly hard time for the carers and Sophie and Anne Dementia club volunteers, have been calling everyone twice a week for a chit chat and to give support.  In July calls were being made on a weekly basis and a socially distancing meet up was arranged for 24th August at the Dunmow Recreation Ground.

Thankfully, on the 24th, the sun shone and the meeting took place.  It was so successful the members requested another meet up and I attended on the 7th September, bearing Letter Challenge and Sudoku books which had been kindly donated by the Michael Roberts Charitable Trust, these were warmly received by all.  The next meet up has already been arranged for the 21st September where hopefully the weather will be kind once more.

This is a story of such positivity that makes a genuine difference to so many people.  A very big THANK YOU to all the volunteers of the Dunmow Dementia Cafe.
